Julian Hilton Chairman of the Aleff Group. At the suggestion of the European Commission, with Dr. Malika Moussaid he co-founded the Aleff Group in 1992 as a science- and technology-based consultancy. Julian currently leads Aleff Group project teams for industry and government clients in the global mining, minerals, fertiliser and critical raw materials sectors, focused on the Circular Economy transition, integrated industrial eco-systems, decarbonisation and zero waste. The Aleff Group has worked with IFA since 2005, mainly on phosphate fertilisers from mine to field, but with particular emphasis on phosphogypsum valorisation and use. He co-founded the IFA PG working group in 2012 and in 2019 took on the role of Convenor. With Malika Moussaid he led the editorial team assembling two IFA PG Reports of which the first was published in 2016 and the second in 2020. A third PG Report “From Waste to Inventory” is currently under way. Aleff Group is a partner of the CIRAN EU Horizon Project (2023-2025), focused on innovative policy development, regulatory reform and successful implementation of the Critical Raw Materials Act (December 2023), whether from primary or secondary resources, within the Circular Economic Green Deal action plan. Julian also currently chairs working groups on SDG delivery for the UN Economic Commission for Europe and on valorisation and use of residues and tailings from NORM-related industries for the International Atomic Energy Agency. |
