Executive Chairperson of Shell Companies in China

Ms Lin Chen assumed the role of Executive Vice President of Shell and Executive Chairperson of Shell Companies in China on July 1, 2023.

Since joining Shell through Graduate Programme in 1997, Lin has built strong finance and business experiences with her several management roles in Upstream, Integrated Gas, Downstream and Projects & Technology, based in different countries including China, the UK, the USA and Canada.

From 2017 to 2020, she held the position of Vice President China Downstream New Business Development, Acquisition & Divestment. Most recently, she served as Vice President China and Ventures of Chemicals & Products, responsible for overseeing the business’ global joint venture portfolio, and the further growth in China with a focus on CNOOC and Shell Petrochemicals Company Limited (CSPC).

Lin graduated from Peking University with a bachelor’s degree and later obtained an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. In December 2020, she was appointed Vice Chair of Executive Board for the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation (CPCIF) Multinational Companies’ Committee.

Lin is the first-ever female chairperson in the history of Shell China. In this role, she will continue to lead Shell China to make progress towards a working environment with diversity, equity and inclusion in which everyone feels included, respected and empowered to bring his or her full self to work.
