Andy Walti

Head of Region China & APAC

Andy Walti was appointed Head of Region China & APAC at Clariant as of January 2021 and is based in Shanghai, China. He had previously taken over as Head of Region China in November 2019. 
Andy, a Swiss national, has been with Clariant for over 20 years and has proven management, business and finance expertise gained through roles spanning numerous countries, levels, functions, and business units. 
Prior to undertaking his current leadership role in China, Andy was Head of Region Middle East & Africa (MEA) of Clariant from 2015 to 2019 based in Dubai, UAE. 
Andy gained valuable integration and turn-around experience as Vice President and Head of Business Line Medical Specialties based in Paris, France (2012-2015). This included an acquisition Andy led in Dongguan, China during 2014, which also benefited from his earlier role in Shanghai, China as Regional Head of Business Unit Paper Specialties Asia-Pacific (2008 to 2012). 
Before this role, he honed his general management expertise in emerging markets, serving as Managing Director and Country President for Clariant in Johannesburg, South Africa (2005 to 2008), and in Casablanca, Morocco (2002 to 2005). 
Andy started his career as a finance trainee in Basel, Switzerland at Sandoz in 1994, followed by several Controlling positions in the Netherlands, France and Thailand. In 1999, he joined Clariant as Finance & 
Administration Director in Bangkok, Thailand. 
With a career of more than 25 years outside his native Switzerland, Andy is an international executive with a proven track record in manoeuvring challenging business environments coupled with a deep understanding of cross-cultural issues, always putting people at the centre of his attention. 
Andy Walti received his Masters Degree in Business Administration, specializing in Accounting and Finance from the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland in 1993. He is married with three children, one of whom was born in Shanghai in 2009.
