Xia Qinglong

President of CNOOC Limited

Mr. Xia is a professor-level senior engineer and has long been engaged in the research and management of offshore and overseas oil and gas exploration and development. He graduated from Geophysical Exploration Department of Chengdu Institute of Geology with a bachelor’s degree in engineeringa and  joined  CNOOC, Aug 1986. He served as Chief Geologist, Deputy General Manager and Executive Deputy General Manager of CNOOC (China) Limited Tianjin Branch from November 2005 to May 2016, and successively served as Chief Executive Officer and President, Chairman of China BlueChemical Ltd. (“China BlueChem”), from June 2016 to December 2019. He served as Chairman of the Board of CNOOC International Limited from December 2019 to March 2022, and also he served as an Executive Vice President of the Company from March 2020 to May 2021, and he was appointed as the President of the Company with effect from 21 May 2021. 
Mr. Xia led the team to successfully guide the discovery of 9 million tons of oil and gas fields, the new petroleum geological reserves of 2.5 billion tons, the national proved reserves of more than 1 billion tons. He has won the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress for two times and the provincial and ministerial science and technology Progress Award for more than 20 times. In 2012, he was awarded the "National Excellent Science and Technology Worker" and the Li Siguang Geological Science Award Field Geological Worker Award in 2013.
