Garrie began his career with Dow in 1983 and held various marketing and management positions in Hong Kong, Canada, Singapore, and Thailand, covering products such as membranes, epoxy, cracker feedstocks, and olefins and aromatics. He was on the Board of Rayong Olefins Co., Ltd. in 1999-2004. After leaving Dow in 2004, Garrie conducted a strategic study for Methanex Corporation in China. He joined CMAI in Singapore in 2005, launched and led the Asia Light Olefins market advisory service, then moved to consulting and was appointed Managing Director of CMAI Asia in 2006. Garrie joined BASF in Singapore in 2007 and was vice president of basic petrochemicals, then isocyanates, and finally polyamides in Asia Pacific. He was a member of the Board of Shanghai BASF Polyurethane Co., Ltd. in 2013-2015. Garrie retired from BASF in 2018 and joined IHS Markit, now part of S&P Global, in Hong Kong in 2020. He assumed his current role in April 2024. Garrie received a B.Sc. in chemical engineering and an MBA from Queen’s University in Canada.
