Wong Tiang Sing graduated with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Hons) from Universiti Tenaga National, Malaysia and began his career in the civil service as Assistant Director in the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) since 2006.

Over the last 18 years, he had served in Machinery Industry Division, Metal Industry Division, Media Division, Oversea Office and State Office.

Wong Tiang Sing was posted to Italy as Deputy Director in MIDA office in Milan (2012–2016) responsible to attract foreign direct investment (FDI) from Italy, Switzerland, Malta and Cyprus to Malaysia. 

He was served in the State of Sabah as Director of MIDA Sabah (2019 – 2022) responsible for liaising with the State Government and relevant authorities/stakeholders to promote investment and facilitate the implementation of projects.

Wong Tiang Sing is currently serving as Investment Counsellor of Embassy of Malaysia in Beijing and Director of the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) Beijing Office, mainly responsible for promoting Chinese investments in Malaysia's manufacturing and service sectors.
