Michael Rockel

Mr. Michael Rockel was born near Duesseldorf, Germany in 1980 and holds a business degree from the university of applied science in Essen, Germany and an MBA from the university of Bradford, United Kingdom. 

He started his professional career with the Bayer corporation in Germany, as part of their management development trainee program. After training positions in various departments, he joined the then LANXESS business unit Ion Exchange Resins in 2004, looking after business development and supply chain. 

In 2007, he moved to the LANXESS group’s board office and became the personal assistant to the board of management, supporting key growth, expansion, restructuring and development activities. 

In 2010, Michael Rockel joined the rubber business and moved to Singapore, where he was in charge of business development for APAC region, along with the introduction of two major rubber plants into the market. 

After his move to Shanghai in 2011, he subsequently took over the APAC marketing and sales director role for the tire related rubber business of LANXESS. 

In mid. 2016, he transferred to the business unit, High Performance Material, as the Marketing and Sales head for the Greater China business region. 

In addition to his responsibility for Marketing and Sales of engineering plastics in Greater China, since early 2019 Mr. Rockel is in charge of the production entity in Wuxi as the general manager.
